NIBE Energy Systems has unveiled the S2060 air source heat pump, which it presents as the start of a new product generation aimed at simpler installation, stronger performance and wider access to low-carbon heating. The S2060 is the first of a family of compact R290 heat pumps, with more outputs due later in the year.

The launch lands in a milestone year for NIBE, which has just marked 20 years in the UK. Over that period it has been investing in installer support, training, the launch of NIBE Home and its product range.

Key features

  • Natural R290 refrigerant (GWP 0.02)
  • No R290 protective zone requirement, giving more freedom when choosing where to site the unit
  • SCOP of up to 5.33
  • Flow temperatures up to 75 °C
  • Heating and cooling down to −25 °C outside
  • Very quiet operation, with a compact single-fan casing and lighter build than earlier generations
  • Compatible with NIBE’s F- and S-series controls and the myUplink platform

Designed around the installer

NIBE says the S2060 was developed around the needs of today’s installers. On two of the first UK jobs, installers highlighted the compact size, straightforward fitting and overall performance. NIBE ties this to its long-standing approach of designing for the people who install and live with its products.

“The S2060 represents far more than a new product.”
— Paul Smith, Managing Director, NIBE Energy Systems Limited

Smith also stressed NIBE’s view that innovation should make heat pumps easier to specify and install, not only more efficient, and said the company will keep investing in products, people and partnerships in the UK.
