Viessmann Climate Solutions, part of Carrier Global Corporation, used InstallerSHOW at the NEC in Birmingham on 23 June 2026 to launch the Vitocal 200-A ie (“intelligent energy”) monobloc air-to-water heat pump. Viessmann says the unit, on sale from autumn 2026, targets price-performance, quick installation and easy servicing, and moves the brand firmly into the entry- to mid-level segment that it describes as the fastest-growing part of the UK heat pump market.
One Base Intelligence
The Vitocal 200-A ie is the first product built on Viessmann’s new One Base Intelligence platform. It lets heat pumps, solar PV, batteries, ventilation and EV chargers – Viessmann’s own or other brands’ – be networked and run under one logic, shown to the homeowner as a single control point in the ViCare app. The idea is that a household can start with any one product and add the rest later without compatibility worries.
The platform learns over time, rebalancing energy flows between connected devices, and receives over-the-air software updates that add features. ViCare shows heat pump consumption, room-by-room control and energy management options. The new Universal Controller ie automates time-of-use tariffs and has a built-in optimiser, so no extra gateways are needed. It can also be used on its own to bring other brands’ heat pumps, air conditioners or solar PV into ViCare.
The heat pump
- Outputs from 4 to 12 kW, which Viessmann estimates covers 70–80% of UK homes
- Flow temperature up to 75 °C for legionella protection, fast hot water recovery and radiator retrofits
- A+++ energy class and natural R290 refrigerant (GWP 0.02)
- 54 or 56 dB(A) in noise-reduced operation
- Single-fan outdoor unit up to 12 kW, about 90 cm installed height, around 90 kg for smaller sizes and 118 kg for the largest, and each fits on a Euro pallet
- Pump and electric heater now inside the outdoor unit; four redesigned indoor units, as in the Vitocal 150-A range
- Universal Controller ie measures 45 × 40 × 13.5 cm and can go on a wall or on the cylinder in an airing cupboard
- Up to four units cascade to 48 kW with a single indoor unit and one wall penetration
Viessmann says UK installers helped shape the design right through to sign-off in late 2025, down to airing cupboard layouts, pipe positions, wiring and packaging. The unit is made in the EU and has won an iF Design Award for its enclosed grille.
